Kristoff swallowed. How many times had he asked himself that same question? Lucas came back into the cabin. The sounds of the party had vanished from outside and there was grumbling in its stead. When Lucas glanced at Kristoff, all Kristoff could do was gesture helplessly at Miriam. Lucas stared at her, looking just as uncertain as he felt.
What were they supposed to do?
Chapter Ten
What is wrong with me?
Miriam placed the basket of condoms on the kitchen counter. While Lucas and Kristoff argued just inside the fence, she had started cleaning up their failed attempt at a party. It felt like the least she could do, considering she had ruined it for them over nothing. It had just been such a shock… and then anger and jealousy had risen so quickly she hadn’t known what to do with them. Emotions had ruled her for just long enough to ruin everything.
Now… Now she had no idea what she was feeling.
And everything that had happened since… everything they talked about… it was all so confusing that it set her head spinning. It didn’t help that desire burned through her body, lighting her on fire from the inside out.
She didn’t want to feel this way… she wanted to feel calm, rational, like she knew what she was doing and would be able to tell them what she was thinking and feeling. But all she knew was that she was seriously messed up in some undeniable, unfixable way, and it’d be better for all of them if she just went and got herself lost in the woods.
No, it wouldn’t, she told herself firmly, but she didn’t believe it.
She just felt so stupid, so humiliated, so embarrassed. Why did she have to have a meltdown like that?
Footsteps made her jump, but of course it was only Lucas and Kristoff. Neither of them looked at her as they brought in the lube and dental dams.
Miriam cleared her throat, twisting her hands as she did so. “I’m sorry for ruining your party.” And acting like an idiot.
Lucas grunted and turned to her. “You have been acting crazy lately. You’re here and there and everywhere. You push yourself against me, but when I touch you, you take off like I shoved a gun in your face. What’s going on?”
“I’d like to know that myself.” Miriam kicked the ground. “I don’t have any answers for you. I just… feel stupid.”
“Is it that you don’t know?” Kristoff stared at her with such intensity that it made her shudder. “Or is it that you don’t want to admit it, even to yourself?”
Miriam wanted to spit out that of course that wasn’t it. But she couldn’t. She wrapped her arms around herself, head bent. She kept doing things and then getting freaked out by her own actions.
That wasn’t normal, was it? It seemed like everybody knew exactly what they were doing except for her. She didn’t even know her own mind.
Did she want these two? She wrote steamy sex scenes imagining them and her. She laid awake at night with her hand between her legs, imagining them doing all sorts of things to her. That was a long-standing fantasy. And yet when they so much as looked at her, she just froze up. She was terrified that they weren’t going to take no for an answer…
But, she wasn’t afraid that they’d rape her. Maybe at the beginning, but that fear was long gone. They weren’t going to hurt her. She knew that in her gut. So what was she so afraid of?
The truth?
“I… I’m just confused,” she mumbled, but that wasn’t the truth. Her confusion was coming from something else. “Ever since you two moved here seven years ago, I have had… fantasies. You said you read my books?” She managed to look up to meet Lucas’ eye. “Half of those heroes are based on the two of you.”
Lucas smirked. “Well, that explains why I liked them so much.”
Kristoff scowled and socked him in the arm.
“The thing is,” Miriam said slowly, ignoring the exchange, “is that fantasy and reality are so different. In my mind I control everything, but when there is a chance that it might be real… I can’t control anything if it’s really happening. Not even my own body. And then I shouldn’t want you. Not when you bury bodies in the woods and make me your slave.”
“The body?” Lucas’ brow rose as Kristoff’s scowl deepened. “You’re still on about that? Do you really think we’re the kind of people who go around murdering people for no reason?”
“You were attacked by a vampire,” Miriam mumbled. “Why would they…?”
Lucas started to say something, but Kristoff held up his hand, silencing him. That frown was still heavy on his face as he folded his arms once more and leaned back. “Think about it this way, Miriam. If it had not attacked me, it would have attacked the cabin—where you and your boys were.”
She blanched as she realized what that meant.
“Now, we know that this vampire isn’t drinking human blood since there have been no bodies and no one has gone missing,” Kristoff continued, “but we have chased it off of campers. That makes it attacking me and getting so close to the cabin all the more suspect.”
“I had no idea…” Miriam shivered. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Kristoff shook his head. “That is not the issue here. You still see us as murderers.”
“What else am I supposed to think when I see you burying a body? Even if that was an evil guy, you should have taken him to the cops or something.”
Kristoff paced to the window and gazed out. “Taking a life is not something we do lightly. If ever we do, we will become the villains we fight. But think of this as the trolley question. People are tied to the track; you have to choose whether to pull the lever and kill one or many. Only, we aren’t just reacting to the situation.” He turned again. “We’re going after the person who tied those people to the track. The person who took out the trolley’s breaks and set up the situation in the first place.”
“So heroes?” Miriam asked, not sure whether it helped or not. She shook her head. “I don’t think that you go around killing people without good reason. But I don’t know if your good reason is the same as my good reason and… killing…”
Lucas looked at the ceiling and sighed. “Sometimes you have to dance with the devil to save others’ souls. Trust me, Miriam. We have done far worse than kill a few people. If you know the extent of what we had to do when we were undercover…” He trailed off, heaving another sigh.
“I… And that’s another thing.” Miriam wanted to shrink back into herself but forced herself to stay upright. “You two have had very… interesting lives. So I don’t know whether you’re really interested or if you’re just bored…”
And that was the truth.
Both of them started protesting. Miriam was stunned. Kristoff even rolled his eyes.
“If we were just bored,” he said loudly, with a tone of obviousness in his voice, “we’d have seduced you already and been working out our boredom with you ever since. Why do you think I yelled that you were making me feel things if it wasn’t true?”
Miriam’s heart warmed to hear his words. But even as it warmed, the doubts sprang too readily in her mind. And then the warring of emotion in her chest made her angry that she couldn’t just accept them saying nice things to her, that she couldn’t trust anything. What was wrong with her that she couldn’t just accept things? Was she so damaged?
“Just bored,” Lucas grumbled. “As if it’s just boredom. Why do you think we have parties like this? It’s so we don’t get to know them. Knowing the person you sleep with makes it messy and complicated. It’s not us who have been ambiguous in what we want.”
Kristoff snorted shifting on the spot, but Miriam didn’t want to hear this. “You know,” she said, barely containing her rising anger, “Treating me like I’m an idiot and brushing off my feelings as though they’re stupid is the opposite of helpful.”
Both wolves paused. They glanced at each other and Lucas coughed, scuffing his toes against the floor. Kristoff scratched at his temple.
“What do you want, then?” Kristoff asked.
“I don’t know!
How many times do I have to say it?”
Kristoff narrowed his eyes at her. Without warning, he sprang at her. Miriam let out a short scream, and then he was on her. His body pressed into hers as he pinned her down on the cot. All the air left her lungs, even though it had not been a hard landing. His lips were so close to hers that she froze, eyes wide. Her heart pounded and her core tightened. Fear and desire warred in her.
“Should we tell you what you want, then?” Kristoff’s keen gaze pierced right through her, stealing the words on the tip of her tongue. “Because I think you know exactly what you want. You just don’t know if you should want it.”
“That’s…” Miriam choked out, caught in the labyrinth of his eyes.
Lucas grabbed Kristoff’s shoulder. “Hey, this isn’t cool. Get off her.”
Kristoff shook him off, pressing himself even tighter to Miriam. She gasped as zings of pleasure washed through her. Her fingers crept up his chest, those contoured muscles twitching beneath her touch, the pounding of her heart echoed by the pounding of his. When Lucas tried to haul Kristoff off her, she wrapped her hands around the back of his neck and spread her legs so he could settle between them. Her nightgown had ridden up and his hand grasped her bare thigh.
A moan and shudder shook her. She should be telling him to get off of her. After everything that had happened tonight… after everything she had gone through, after all the fear that she’d felt toward these two… she shouldn’t want this.
But she did. And she didn’t want to fight her desires—even as she continued to fight them.
“You can go live with some other wolves until we’ve taken care of business,” Kristoff growled, pulling her thigh up over his hip. “You could move back to town and we could have Adrian and Shawn guard you.”
Guard her from what? She opened her mouth to ask, but then Kristoff’s fingers slid up her inner thigh and brushed against her underwear and she forgot that there was more to what he had just said. She shuddered, arching her back against him.
“Do you want to do that?” he asked, more intently. “Do you want to leave us and go somewhere else?”
Why wasn’t Lucas saying anything?
“No,” Miriam breathed, “no, I don’t want to do that.”
Kristoff grinned. “Then kiss me.”
She obeyed without thought. Her whole body sung with need; her blood craved more of these sparks that were building throughout her. A tingling feeling went up her thighs, making her squeeze them against Kristoff’s solid hips. Excitement swept through her. Was this really going to happen? If she could just stop thinking, maybe it would…
Lucas knelt beside them. He pushed Kristoff back slightly, then rested his hand on her stomach. Miriam held her breath, afraid he was going to say she was too fat for them after all. But then the wicked grin on his face drove those thoughts straight from her brain.
“Let me tell you what I want,” he growled. “I want to fuck you hard and rough. I want you on your knees as I twist your arms behind your back. I want you crying out with every thrust as I make your body feel things you’ve only imagined. Do you want me to do that?”
Miriam, still breathless from Kristoff’s kiss, could only nod. It was like he’d reached into her darkest fantasies.
Kristoff shifted on her, bringing her attention back to him. “I am going to fuck you in the ass.”
Not a question. Not a request. A statement. Miriam’s eyes widened, and her jaw dropped open. “But I’ve never done that before.”
Kristoff grinned, his eyes flashing in a predatory way. She got the sense that he’d been holding back for so long that he was no longer capable of doing so. She swallowed heavily. Did she want that? She’d imagined it but to have it here for real… Was she really ready for that?
There was only one thing she could say. “Yes, Master.”
Chapter Eleven
Between the two of them fighting over who got to kiss her, Miriam hardly had a moment to catch her breath over the next several moments. Her whole body was on fire, desires pooling in every nook and cranny of her existence. Her lips were puffed up from the kissing by the time they allowed her to lay back on the cot. Somewhere during all that, they had taken off her clothes. Now, the cool air brushing against her skin was a welcome relief from the fire burning in her core.
Lucas groaned as he looked at her, stripping off his own clothes. “There are so many things I want to do with you, Miriam. And I want to do them all at once. I wish I could duplicate myself so I could fuck you a hundred different ways all at once.”
“You’d kill her doing that,” Kristoff laughed, lazily removing his pants. He was already hard, and Miriam gazed at him adoringly. “I’d rather take it one thing at a time. Stretch out the longing… and pleasure.”
He walked away, making Miriam start to push herself up with a protest in her throat, but Lucas was there again before she could. His mouth claimed hers as his hands fondled her breasts. When she reached to wrap her arms around him, though, he grabbed her wrists and put them back on the bed. His tattoos stood out darkly against his tanned skin, his muscles hard beneath his soft skin.
“Stay perfectly still,” he warned, then bent over to suckle on her breast.
A buzzing noise made her look down to where Kristoff was approaching. He waved a pink vibrating wand at her, his eyes gleaming. “Have you used one of these before?”
Miriam nodded. “I have to take care of myself somehow.”
“Not tonight,” Kristoff replied in a growl, pressing the head of the wand into her thigh. “Tonight, we take care of you.”
He traced patterns over her skin, sending the vibrations echoing deep into her core. She swallowed, gulping as her whole body twitched and writhed. When the pressure between her thighs became too much, she pressed her legs together—only for Lucas to pry them apart and for Kristoff to take the wand directly to her clit in punishment for trying to deny him.
“Stop!” she blurted, darkness starting to burn at the sides of her vision.
The buzzing stopped. The vibrations ended. The pressure left her, leaving her with an unsatisfied throbbing in her center. The scent of peaches reached her, and she realized that Kristoff had used lube on her as well as the vibrator—that must be why she felt so wet. Or was that her natural lubrication as well?
“Stop?” Lucas repeated. “Do you want us to get dressed and leave you alone?”
Miriam shook her head rapidly. “No. No, that’s not what I want at all. It’s just… so much…”
“It’s only going to end up being more,” Lucas promised her.
Miriam whimpered, desire coursing through her. “I want it. I want to be completely overwhelmed. But I’m scared…”
Lucas prodded Kristoff back and then brought Miriam up before turning her over and making her kneel on the bed. “Don’t be scared, my delectable slave. Just do as Master says and relax.”
Relaxing was impossible. But Miriam soon found that her thoughts were all gone as Lucas entered her with one single thrust. The sudden shock of it stung and she jerked away. Lucas didn’t let her go far, grabbing both her wrists and holding them behind her back, just as he said he would. Kristoff knelt beside her, wrapping his hands in her hair. He stuck his cock at her, and she took it into her mouth.
Her whole body throbbed with pleasure as they thrust in a disordinate rhythm. She fought against Lucas’ hold on her, not because she wanted to be free but because it was all so much, she reacted without thought. Her nails clenched and clawed for something to hold onto, something to keep her from pitching into the oblivion of pleasure. But there was nothing. Her body went limp, helpless before their pleasure, her own pleasure shaking up her legs and down her spine.
Kristoff kept his movements shallow and she found herself wishing he’d make her gag, but with his hands holding her head still, she couldn’t take him any deeper into her mouth. Lucas was making grunting noises that warred with the sound of skin slapping skin. Over and over, until the sensations in her
body and the sounds of their bodies mingling were the only things she knew.
Is this real? The thought came disjointed. It all felt so unreal. How was it possible that she could feel such pleasure?
Or that Lucas and Kristoff could feel so much lust for her? Their desire seemed to infect her, building her own desires. It was all too much for her to process. The pleasure in her body now tightening her core so much that she was blind to everything else. Tingles of fear rushed through her; how much could she take? How much could they give her?
“Holy FUCK,” Lucas shouted, making Miriam jump. She clenched around him. His hands tightened on her wrists and then suddenly he was falling over her. His body was rigid as he pressed himself against her, his thrusting jerky.
His teeth bit into her neck and shoulders, spots of pain blossoming. Kristoff pulled out of her mouth just in time for her to scream and then clench her teeth together. Lucas got a particularly sensitive spot on her shoulder and she yelped even after waves of pleasure washed through her.
She knew Lucas was done when he released her. She collapsed onto the cot as Lucas slowly pulled out of her. Her whole body throbbed with a deep ache, sharp pain on her shoulders. A finger probed around one of those painful spots and Kristoff swore.
“You broke skin, you idiot. Look at that! She’s bleeding.”
Miriam swallowed dryly. “I don’t mind,” she mumbled, and that was the truth. She did not mind at all. “I… I think I liked that part most of all.”
“Good, because this isn’t the last time I’m going to bite you,” Lucas moaned huskily in her ear. He collapsed onto the cot next to hers and tugged on her arm. “Come over here and lie down on me so I can hold you still while Kristoff takes your ass.”
There was more? Miriam buried her face in the blankets on the cot, moaning. She wasn’t certain if more was a good thing or not… She craved more, for sure (she didn’t think she’d climaxed just yet) but could her body take any more? If she wasn’t going to climax with that, she wasn’t going to climax at all, right…?
