“We hope you have a good day’s rest.” He said. “Let me know if there’s anything you need. Don’t be afraid to ask. I’m upstairs, second door on your left. Noah is just across the hall from me.”
“Definitely come drop by for a visit,” Noah said, suddenly peeking his head into the doorway. “I would love the company.”
Azurdee chuckled a little. Noah’s flirtatious comments were actually starting to grow on her a little. “Good morning guys.”
“Good morning, Azurdee. Sleep well.” Kai made sure she was in bed before closing the door, casting her in utter darkness.
Chapter Sixteen
Azurdee slept soundly through the day, feeling safe and secure inside her little nook. The duvet clung around her like a lover, soothing her into a peaceful slumber.
When she woke up, she had no idea what time it was. All she knew was that she felt well-rested.
Rolling out of bed, she stretched her limbs in the darkness before she fumbled around for the doorknob. Finally finding it, she blinked at the light of the hallway, squinting slightly until her vision adjusted.
Once she stepped out of her room, she closed the door behind her, the sound of hushed whispers coming from the kitchen.
“We can’t let them know we have her here. If the nobles find out, we’ll be brought to the gallows.”
“What do you suggest? We just hand her over to that scumbag? You know Fredrick will use her as nothing more than a breeder for his offspring.”
“I want her to stay safe as much as you do, but we have to think of our own safety as well. We’re wanted in at least a dozen districts. Ever since our father died, we haven’t exactly been model citizens.”
Noah growled. “Don’t talk about him. Those nobles deserved exactly what they got for killing our father. He missed one payment on his rent – one – and they thought that was a good reason to kill him in cold blood. You weren’t there, Kai, you didn’t see it happen. You didn’t see his head roll onto the ground, his eyes lifeless before they kicked it to the fire and burned him to ash.”
There was silence for a moment. Azurdee bit her lip, remembering her own father’s death. He had been publicly executed for helping a lesser vampire rather than punishing him. Azurdee had been forced to watch, along with everyone else. His death hadn’t been justified, it had only served as a warning to other members of the nobility. Her heart tightened, remembering her dad. He had been a friend to her, comforting her when she was lonely and scared. After his death, she had felt helpless, especially in her mother’s cruel care.
Quietly, she tiptoed into the kitchen. “Good evening.” She said as if she had heard nothing of their conversation. She looked at them in a new light now that she knew what they had been through. No wonder they hated the nobles so much and felt entitled to steal from them. She didn’t blame them.
The two men turned, facing her. “Good evening,” Kai answered with a soft smile. “Did you sleep well?”
“I did, thank you.” Azurdee nodded, noting the awkwardness in the room. “What are you guys doing, just standing in the middle of the kitchen anyway?” She glanced at the stove to see if anything was cooking, but there wasn’t even a frying pan to be seen.
“Looks like you’ve been reported kidnapped.” Noah handed her the newspaper where a sketch of her took up most of the front page. “From what the article says, your mother is distraught and paying a handsome reward for whoever brings you back in time for your wedding.”
Azurdee snorted. “My mother isn’t worried about me. She’s worried about the bad publicity this will give the family. Why do you think she staged it as a kidnapping? If she said I was a runaway, she’d be the laughing stock of the nobility, unable to control her own daughter.”
“That may be so, but it puts us all in danger.” Kai pointed out. “If they find us – “
“You don’t think they will do you…?” Azurdee asked, concern in her voice. She looked out the kitchen window as if royal guards were about to march up to the house this very instant.
“Unlikely. We live in the middle of nowhere. Besides, no one knows you came here, do they?”
“No… I left unannounced. Haven’t said a word to anyone about you guys.”
“Then, there’s nothing to worry about,” Noah said in his usual, nonchalant manner. “Stop looking so glum. No one is going to take you, and even if they try, they’ll have to do it over my dead body.” He whispered, tilting her chin upwards until she was forced to look into his eyes. Since he had not fed in a few days, his eyes were a soft red color, almost violet.
Azurdee felt herself shudder in the heat of his gaze. She bit her lip, finally looking away. “Okay… but I’m only staying until Fredrick is married off to another vampire.”
Noah frowned but didn’t say anything. He just shrugged, heading toward the counter to start making breakfast.
“Do either of you have a computer?” she asked.
“Of course.” Kai nodded. “It’s one of the objects we search for the most during our ventures. They sell extremely well on the black market, especially to middle-class vampires trying to get an education. They all think they can advance into nobility that way.” Kai shook his head, retrieving a state-of-the-art laptop from a cabinet in the living room. The cabinet was full of electronics, which the nobility tried very hard to keep away from the lower class, pretending that such items didn’t exist.
Azurdee grabbed the laptop and sat down on the couch. She chose to take advantage of the stolen items in the cabinet, thinking the brothers were at least somewhat justified for their actions after the death of their father.
Kai left the room, joining his brother in the kitchen.
Alone, Azurdee opened the laptop and started to do a little research. There had to be something online that would tell her how to prevent her mother from marrying her off. Finally, the third link gave her some answers.
Reading quickly through the article, she learned that the only way to officially dissolve a marriage was to lose one’s virginity. Members of nobility could not arrange one without the female party being a virgin, guaranteed by the girl’s family.
So, in order for Azurdee to get out of this mess, all she had to do… was lose her virginity.
She looked into the kitchen where the two men were preparing breakfast.
But, which one did she choose?
Chapter Seventeen
“Breakfast is ready.” Kai came back into the room, wiping his hand on his apron. “What did you need to look up, anyway? Anything we can help you with?”
Azurdee looked at him, biting her lip. Somehow, seeing him in an apron made him even sexier. The fact that these men knew how to cook was even more of a turn on for Azurdee.
As Kai waited for an answer, he swept back his soft blonde hair, but a few wisps just kept falling into his eyes, which were a soft golden red. They were breathtakingly beautiful.
Azurdee gulped to keep back her urges. She had to keep a level head about this. She couldn’t just pounce on one of the brothers and lose her virginity that way. No, this was something she had to think about. Long and hard.
“Azurdee?” Kai cocked his head to the side. “Are you okay?”
“Y-Yes…” Azurdee finally realized that she had been staring. Her cheeks colored in embarrassment before she closed the laptop, leaving it on the couch. She quickly got up. “Let’s enjoy breakfast and then I can tell you both…” She had no idea how the two men would react to her news, especially since it was a well-known fact that vampire men were especially attracted to virgin females. Something about the conquest, of claiming that untouched innocence.
Feeling a tad bit nervous, she followed Kai into the kitchen. To her surprise, Noah was there, pulling out her chair. “Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me.” Noah grinned. “Kai isn’t the only one who knows how to act like a gentleman.” He whispered into her ear, his lips grazing the side of her neck.
Azurdee shivered but didn’t pull away. There wa
s no denying that she liked Noah’s teasing by this point. It made her feel wanted and sexy, even more so than the dirty literature she used to read. She almost leaned into the kiss when Kai cleared his throat, warning his brother to stop.
With an exasperated look, Noah sat down, taking a large bite out of his barely cooked bacon. His teeth glistened, protruding slightly over his bottom lip.
“So, Azurdee, what was it you needed the laptop for?” Kai asked, carefully cutting his omelet into bite-sized pieces.
“Well… hiding here might not be a permanent solution to my problem. I mean… at any time someone could find me and bring me back, right?”
“Over my dead body,” Noah grumbled but continued to hungrily tear at his food.
She glanced at him but didn’t bother to offer him a remark. “So, I decided to do some research.”
“And, what did you discover?” Kai asked, politely swallowing his food before he spoke.
“Well…” Azurdee hesitated, looking back and forth between the two men. “It said… the only way to prevent an arranged marriage is for the woman to lose her virginity…” She allowed her words to trail off.
The two men stared at her. Noah even stopped mid-bite to gape at her before he finally came to his senses, slamming his fork on the table and getting halfway up from his seat. “You’re a virgin?” He asked, his eyes instantly darkening to a shade of lust. “Just when I thought you couldn’t get any better…” He sunk back into his chair, a smirk on his face.
He then looked over at his brother. There was no way he would let Kai get to her now.
The hairs on the back of his neck stood on edge as his possessive nature came into full swing. He would have her, one way or another. His instincts screamed at him to pounce on her right then and there, but he didn’t want to scare her off. He would wait for the right moment and only then make his move. He would prove to her that he was much more than a flirt, that he could make good on all his promises to please her.
“Y-Yes.” Azurdee finally managed an answer. “I’ve been kept away from men most of my life… in fact… you two were the first to ever see me naked. That’s why I reacted so harshly… it wasn’t that I didn’t like you there.” The last part of her sentence was barely audible, her cheeks burning as she revealed this information.
“Is that so?” Kai raised an eyebrow, the corners of his lips twitching upwards ever so slightly, the only sign of his amusement.
“Yes…” Azurdee’s cheeks grew even darker.
For the rest of their meal, they ate in silence. Azurdee no longer knew what to say, now that the two men looked at her with such hunger in their eyes. In a way, it excited her. She could almost feel the sexual tension brewing in the room.
“Well, how about we watch a movie? Kai and I snagged a pretty nice DVD player when we were “invited” to a noble’s home to inspect their plumbing. We got our hands on that movie the humans supposedly love so much. You know, the one with the giant lizard that likes to destroy things.” Noah said, helping his brother clear up the table.
Azurdee looked at him as if he had lost his mind. “Giant lizard?”
“Yeah, you know, he like destroys stuff with his big tail and burns things down with his atomic breath!”
Azurdee continued to stare. “I have no idea what you two are talking about, but why don’t you set it up and I’ll wash the dishes. It’s the least I can do since you two were kind enough to cook.”
“Are you sure?” Kai asked. “We can just as easily do it ourselves. You’re a guest. We wouldn’t want to burden you with such tiresome chores.”
“Really. I insist.” She waited for them to leave before she turned on the tap. To be honest, Azurdee had never washed dishes in her life, but she had watched some of the servants do it after meals. How hard could it be?
As she would find out, it wasn’t as easy as she thought. The greasy plates kept trying to slip from her fingers. The soap and sponge were harsh on her delicate skin. The water constantly alternated from scalding hot to bitterly cold. By the time she was done, there were a quite a few still-greasy plates on the drying rack. In her opinion, however, she had done a pretty good job.
She was washing her hands when she felt someone walk up behind her. Before she could figure out who it was, they had their arms around her waist, pulling her closer to his body. She gasped, feeling his hardening member rub against her voluptuous ass.
“You know… it’s difficult to keep myself under control when you stand here, slightly bent over, your ass swaying side to side…” Noah’s voice sounded against her ear, making her shiver. “I have half a mind to bend you over this counter and solve your little problem right this instant… what do you say, princess?”
Goosebumps formed over every part of Azurdee’s body at his words. She knew she should be pushing him away, but at the same time, the desire and lust that rolled through her body made her want him to grind into her even harder, to bend her over, to take her. “Noah…”
“Already moaning my name…” He grinned. “I like that…” He ran his hands along her hips, pushing her even closer to his cock, rubbing himself against her. “Tell the truth, you want me, don’t you?” He nipped at her neck, leaving behind faint bite marks.
She gasped, her back arching ever so slightly at the contact. Her body was surging with adrenaline at this point, her heart quivering with the possibilities. Would she really pick Noah over Kai?
As if to save her from her decision, Kai stepped into the kitchen, making his presence known. “What’s going on here?” He asked, narrowing his eyes in suspicion.
“What does it look like?” Noah shot back, still holding onto her hips, his fingers digging into her flesh ever so slightly. “Sorry, you were late to the party.”
“Actually… I think we should just watch the movie.” Azurdee said quickly, squirming out of Noah’s hold, and scampering over to Kai.
With a triumphant look, he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and guided her to the two-person couch, forcing Noah to sit by himself in the armchair.
His face darkened at the prospect of sitting alone, grumbling under his breath so no one could hear him.
Kai picked up the remote, dimming the lights, and starting the movie.
After a while, Azurdee’s head naturally rested on Kai’s shoulder as she leaned into him. He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer. Gently, he started to rub her back, soothing her.
Soon enough, she was fast asleep. Kai placed her head on his lap, letting her lie down on the couch. There was a satisfied smirk on his face.
The two brothers made eye contact. Noah snarled, feeling like he would pounce at any moment. He couldn’t stand to watch Kai blatantly show off the fact that Azurdee’s head was so close to his cock. Kai just grinned, getting a kick out of annoying his sibling.
When the movie ended and Noah turned on the lights, Azurdee started to wake up. She nuzzled her head into Kai’s lap, thinking it was her pillow. “Mmm…” She moaned, feeling well-rested after her little nap.
To Noah, it sounded like she had just moaned. A deep growl emerged from his throat and just as Azurdee was sitting up, he pounced, knocking Kai off the couch.
The two of them fell onto the floor, Noah’s fingers pinning Kai to the ground, his face full of rage. His teeth came on display, posed like a threat to his brother.
Azurdee’s eyes widened, wondering what was going on. Before she could react, Kai rammed his knee into Noah’s groin, causing him to gasp and double over. A second later, he had Noah’s arm pulled behind his back so hard that it almost broke.
Noah somehow managed to free his other arm, using it to claw at Kai’s face. The stinging pain made him lose his focus, his grip loosening. Noah took his chance, sweeping Kai’s legs.
Kai crashed into the coffee table which shattered on contact. Quickly, he rolled out of harm’s way before Noah could punch him in the face.
Noah screamed out, his fist now full of splinters. He whipped aroun
d just in time to dodge Kai’s attack as he charged forward. He collided with the wall, the cabinet with the electronics opening. Some of them tumbled to the ground, screens shattering, metal denting.
Finally, Azurdee snapped out of her state of shock and got up. “Guys! Guys! Stop it!” She ran between them, holding out her arms, hoping it would serve as a buffer zone.
The two vampires stared at each other, their need to possess this woman becoming so strong that they were willing to fight each other over who got to be with her.
“Now, who wants to tell me what the hell is going on here?” Azurdee demanded. “I want answers, now.”
Kai was the first one to calm down, running his fingers through his light-colored hair. “Isn’t it obvious, Azurdee?” he asked.
She looked at him, tilting her head. “What are you talking about? I woke up and you two were at each other’s necks, looking like you were about to kill each other! How am I supposed to know what’s going on?”
Kai offered a slight smile at her innocence before he stepped forward. “We both want you.”
Chapter Eighteen
“But only one of us can have you, and I’ll be damned if I let Kai win.” Noah took a step forward.
Azurdee was now being cornered by the two men.
“Wait.”
They both stopped.
“What if… what if all three of us…” Azurdee bit her lip, knowing it was an impossible request, but she honestly knew she would never be able to choose between the brothers. While Noah was masculine and sexy, Kai was a perfect gentleman who treated her with the utmost respect. How was she supposed to say she wanted one more than the other? In fact, it was as if the two of them represented one whole…
“What?” Noah spat, looking confused.
“I… I know it sounds crazy… but what if the three of us get into bed together. I’ve read about it before… the humans do it all the time. They call it a threesome. It’s supposed to be a lot of fun…” She looked at them with wide eyes, hoping they would agree. At that moment, she wanted nothing more than to have both men in bed with her, their hands all over her, their lips on her body, their fingers digging into her flesh as they rammed into her harder and harder… Azurdee was getting wet just thinking about it and they weren’t even in the bedroom yet.
